PeppyPDF

Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 August 2026

The short version: your PDFs never reach us, because there is nowhere for them to go. This page explains that properly, and is honest about the parts of the site that do involve other companies.

Who this is

PeppyPDF is an independent project operated from India by its author. For anything on this page, write to privacy@peppypdf.com.

This policy covers the website at peppypdf.com and the editor at peppypdf.com/app.

Your PDFs and everything in them

PeppyPDF has no server that receives documents. When you open a file, your browser reads it from your own disk and every operation — editing text, signing, merging, splitting, compressing, converting, encrypting — runs as code inside that browser tab, on your own processor.

That means the following never leave your device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else:

  • The PDFs, images and Word documents you open
  • Any text you type into a document, and any text you replace
  • Signatures you draw, type or upload
  • Passwords you set on a document, or type to open a protected one
  • File names, page counts, and anything else about your documents

We could not hand these to a third party, a court or an attacker even if we were asked to, because we never receive them. When you export, the finished file is written straight from the browser to your downloads folder.

What is saved on your device

A few small preferences are stored in your browser‘s local storage so the editor behaves consistently between visits. These stay on your device, are readable only by peppypdf.com in your own browser, and are never sent anywhere:

  • peppypdf.theme — whether you chose the light or dark theme
  • peppypdf.tutorialDone — whether you have seen the first-run tour
  • peppypdf.changesPanel — where you dragged the Changes panel, and whether it is minimised
  • peppypdf.signatures — up to eight signatures you chose to save, so you can reuse them

Clearing your browser storage for this site removes all of them, including your saved signatures. Nothing here identifies you, and none of it is used for tracking.

Information collected automatically

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request in order to deliver the page and to protect the site from attack and abuse. That includes your IP address, browser and operating system version, and which page you asked for.

There is no account system, so nothing is tied to an identity you gave us — because you never gave us one.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — how many people visit, which tools they open, and whether anything is broken. Without it we would have no idea whether the editor works for anyone.

Unlike the advertising below, analytics runs on every page, including the editor. It is worth being precise about what that does and does not mean:

  • It sees: which pages you opened, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and how you reached the site
  • It does not see: your documents, their contents, their file names, their page counts, or anything you typed into them — none of which ever leave your device for us to send on

Google Analytics sets cookies to tell one visit from another. You can opt out across every site that uses it with Google‘s browser add-on, and browser tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop it too — the editor works exactly the same either way.

No analytics data is sold, and none of it is joined up with anything else about you.

Advertising

PeppyPDF is free and is funded by advertising. Where ads appear they are served by Google, using Google AdSense.

Ads are shown only on the information pages — the home page and the individual tool pages. The editor at /app carries no advertising and no ad scripts at all, so nothing third-party is running on the page while your document is open.

Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and may use your prior visits to this and other websites to show ads they consider relevant. This is Google‘s processing, governed by Google‘s own policies rather than ours — we never send Google your documents, because we do not have them.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your choices about advertising cookies before any are set, and you can change that decision at any time.

Cookies

PeppyPDF sets no cookies of its own. It has no login, no session and nothing to remember about you between visits beyond the preferences listed above, which use local storage rather than cookies.

The cookies you will find here belong to Google — analytics on every page, and advertising on the information pages. Both are described in their own sections above, with the opt-out routes for each.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we have no documents to share in the first place. The third parties involved are the hosting provider that serves you the page, Google Analytics on every page, and Google‘s advertising on the information pages — each described above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal information about you — under the GDPR in the EEA, the UK GDPR, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act in India, and comparable laws elsewhere.

In practice there is very little for us to act on, because we hold no accounts and no documents. If you would like to exercise a right or ask what we hold, write to privacy@peppypdf.com and you will get a reply. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, use the Google links above, which reach it directly.

Children

PeppyPDF is a general-purpose document tool. It is not aimed at children, and it has no accounts, no sign-up and no uploads — so there is nothing for a child to register for and nothing about them for us to hold.

The advertising on the information pages is a different matter, and worth being straight about. Those ads are served by Google, which sets cookies and may build an interest profile of whoever is browsing. Two things limit it: the opt-out links in the Advertising section work for any visitor, and the editor itself carries no advertising at all.

If you believe a child has given personal information to this site, write to privacy@peppypdf.com and we will look into it — though as above, there is no account or upload for them to have given it through.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of the page will change and the new version will be published here before the change takes effect. There is no mailing list to notify, because there are no accounts.
